Standards Of Care - 4 Critical Standards To Demand From Your Physiotherapy Provider
Physiotherapy Standards 1
Better Outcomes: At One to One, our philosophy is that educated patients will achieve better outcomes, so when patients don’t complete their treatment successfully, who’s fault is that? Providing education and feedback regarding results has been demonstrated to increase patient compliance and improve outcomes.
  • After the initial evaluation, we review our findings, dicuss your current status and goals, and outline treatment receommendations. In addition, clients are provided access to our Patient Guide and Frequently Asked Questions to help them understand the potential benefits of each treatment program to reduce pain, speed recovery, and restore maximum function.
  • With your permission we will communicate with your physician to facilitate collaborative care.
  • Throughout care and upon completion, we survey our clients to evaluate outcomes and satisfaction.
Physiotherapy standards 2
Client-Centered: One to One Wellness provides care aligned with your goals. Many physiotherapy clinics set up their practice in response to financial pressure from other ‘stakeholders’. One of the most common industry-wide reactions is to reduce time spent with your therapist. One to One Wellness recognizes that this can greatly impact the quality of care and the client experience.
  • At One to One, you have access to a team of professionals committed to your well-being. We are stronger together than any of us is individually. You will benefit from the expertise of our entire team. We consult regularly with one another and will discuss your care to ensure continuity if you are working with a different therapist.
  • At One to One, waiting is viewed as a major inconvenience - unacceptable to you and to us. Time spent in the reception area shouldn’t exceed 5 or 10 minutes, except in rare situations. A therapist’s time is not worth more than yours.
physiotherapy standards 3
Continuing Therapist Training and Education: Therapists in the province of Nova Scotia are required by the College of Physiotherapists to meet certain criteria to be eligible for continued licensure. This criteria includes 40 hours of continuing education per year. If a therapist is scraping by with the bare minimum, it tells you a bit about their commitment to the profession. You should ask yourself, "Do you want a team of therapists that meet only minimum requirements?"
  • All therapists at One to One regularly exceed the requirements of licensure. In addition to courses, we participate in monthly in-services and have established a pain sciences study group. Our team workouts are also an opportunity for us to investigate different training approaches.
  • Choosing a therapist based on convenience and location only runs the risk of missing out on optimal care. Ensure that your therapist can answer the questions you have about your condition and provide evidence to support recommended treatment interventions.
Physiotherapy standards 4
Science-Based Practice: One to One’s treatment approach is based on the best available evidence in exercise science, rehabilitation, and pain management.
  • There has been an explosion of research in physiotherapy in the last number of years. Information from neuroscience offers the potential to revolutionize our understanding of pain, mobility, and function. It is essential that your therapist be fluent in the latest evidence relevant to your condition.
